Today's Patient was another good experience. It ended up being a class two. The HH took me a while because of everything I had to write. I had one retake out of 4 BWX because I made a film processing error. I accidently put two films in at once. I need to be more careful about that. The patient had a hard time with the xray in their mouth. Then I got through OD. I need to write everything down more neatly and be very thourough. Sometimes I get rushed and I just need to focus. My patient had to leave early so next time they come in I will do OHI and scale everything, hopefully. I also feel like the order I am doing things in needs to run a little smoother. I am going to go through everything and think of ways to make it run smoother. Every time I see a new patient I learn so much. The instructors are great and they help me notice certain things and explain the reasoning behind it.

Patient all day! Today I came in and treated my patient in the morning and finished her this afternoon. She was a class 5 and has a lot of bone loss. She was extremely pleasant and knew a lot about oral health. She did not have a lot of calculus so it was not too bad. I took an FMX and that took a long time. I had to retakes and in total it took an hour. I got to ohi this morning. In the afternoon I did ohi and then scaled all four quads. It went well. I had 3 areas where I had to fix, so it was a good learning experience. I got really lucky because she was so pleasant

1/12/07 Today I saw my first patient this semester. I felt really rusty from not being in school for a month. I was not as confident as I instrumented. I really need to remeber to angle my instrument properly as I clean. I cleaned 3 quads today and it took me longer than it should have. I felt a little frustrated at the end of the clinic session, but know that it will just take practice to get back into the groove of everything

11/08/07 First Day Back! Well today was a good day. I felt like they broke us in easy today and on wednesday the shock will come when we see our patient. Today we learned how to use the Gracey's. We practiced on the typodonts and then on our class mate. It was not to bad. It seemed similar to the universal instruments but you could tell how they adapt better to certain surfaces. It was hard because we could practice subginigival, so our first time will be when we have a patient with pockets. The one thing that slowed me down was deterimining which end to use. It was not to bad though. Today was a good day.
