Last Thursday Clinic was great, my board patient came in and I took all of the xrays and cleaned a quad and placed arestin. I used local anesthetic and it was funny because he was the first patient that I had ever gotten numb and that was last semester. Well, this time he was like you weren't as nervous as last time! He could tell that I was not as shaky, funny. I am going to clean one quad for mock board in April to see how well I can remove his calculus before the real board.
In the afternoon I found another potential board patient and Kristi came over and helped me because she might use her. She is a borderline board patient. Tomorrow is the Local anesthetic mockboard, I can't believe that it's already here!

My mockboard went really well this time. Last time I failed and this time I didn't miss any spots of caluculus!!! I was so excited. She seemed so much easier than my last patient and so I am wondering if my board patient that I have scheduled will be too hard. He is coming in tomorrow so I can retake xrays and check everything to make sure that he is ready to go.

Yesterday at the VA I was able to have a lot of Local anesthetic experiences! I didn't have a patient at first and so I went to the dental clinic and anesthetized a sedated patient. I didn't know that when a paitient was sedated that they can respond to you. If you tell them to open their mouth they will. It was crazy. I used a bite block and that really helped. Good experience. I also anesthezed two other patients. The last experience was interesting because I did infiltrations. I infiltrated #8f and #14fL. I had never infiltrated on the palate and so that was an interesting experience. I really need to concentrate on not expressing solution as I am entering the patients mouth. I did that a couple times yesterday. That is my goal for next time.
I worked on that patient when they were in a gerny. It was a really good experience.
In the afternoon I cleaned a class 4 patient. The majority of the time was spent removing stain. I need to remeber to use the same toe to tooth expression when using the ultrta sonic.
