Pt schedule. We went over how to class a patient into different categories and how to arrange their appointents. It was helpful to learn. Then we practiced instrumenting on each other. I passed off my angulation adaptation PE. I need to work on my wrist movement a little bit better. I felt more comfortable instrumenting today.

10/25 Clinic: Blog was down so here it is! We leared universal instrumentation. We used the barnhart 5/6 and the columbia 13/14 and we also used our nebraska. Prof Costley showed us how to use an extra oral fulrum for the maxillary posteriors. It really helped. It was a good day in clinic I just felt like I needed more practice.

Intraoral camera. Today we used the intra oral camera and it was really neat to use. You can really see a lot of detail inside of the mouth including restorations. I think it would be very helpful to use with a patient so they can actually see what you are trying to describe and it will help motivate them. We practiced anterior scaling. Today was a good day.

Today we practiced everything that we have learned so far on each other. It was good to have a run through because we hadn't done some stuff for a while, like extra and intra oral exam. It was good to practice so we can make our first appt more smooth. We also wrote a perio statement.Then we worked on our anterior scaling and that was good, but I need to adapt my instrument a little bit better. Other wise it was a good day.

Anterior Scaling. Today we started scaling on our typodont. Then we practiced on each other. First we explored and felt for calculus and then scaled it off. It was really excited to scale it off. I need to work on my technique a little more, but overall today was a good day. I passsed off my explorer PE and I think I still need to work on getting into the col area a little better.

At clinic today we did OHI again. We used the disclosing agent on our partner and then probed. I am still a little frustrated by probing because it takes me so long. I need to angle my instrument better. I am going to practice on my typodont everyday until next clinic session.

Disclosing Agent
Today we learned how to use the disclosing agent to detect plaque. We also instructed our partner proper brushing and flossing techniques. We learned how to do a PFI. It was a fun day and kind of relaxed. I found certain places that I need to brush better! I need to review the order of what we write of our treatment record and remember what specifically I should write under each one. Today was a good day!

Today we practiced taking measurements from probing each other. I need to work on the interproximal areas and try to angle my instrument a little better to get a more accurate measurement. After we practiced on each other we did a little exploring. Everything is starting to get a little bit better. I think today was a good day, I still need to practice!
